The health, wellbeing and development of young people is at the heart of a brand new $6.46 million Youth Centre opening in Ellenbrook today.

The WA Government invested a total of $4.27 million to help get the Ellenbrook Youth Centre project off the ground.

The project received $1.86 million through the WA Recovery Plan and $2.05 million through Lotterywest's COVID-19 Relief Fund with the City of Swan contributing the remainder.

The project received an additional $180,000 from the WA Labor Government and a further $183,000 from Lotterywest towards the project.

The centre has been co-designed by young people for young people and includes a range of services — from basketball and netball courts to a creative studio, open recreational space and activity rooms, to name a few.

The design of the state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility has a strong focus on connection, providing a safe and welcoming recreational space to keep young people active, healthy and connected.

Importantly, it is also linked to a range of community services such as counselling, financial advice and employment training.

Comments attributed to Member for West Swan Rita Saffioti:

The Ellenbrook Youth Centre is an outstanding new facility that will provide a friendly, safe and fun environment for young people in our community.

“This centre, along with our Government’s signature Morley-Ellenbrook rail line, will work hand in hand making it easier for young people to access recreational, wellbeing and support programs.

“With many young people living in Ellenbrook, it will be a great asset for the community.”

Comments to be attributed to the Member for Swan Hills Jessica Shaw:

“Today represents the culmination of years of hard work from so many people, fighting for the services and facilities that our kids need in Ellenbrook.

“We will now have a youth centre equipped to provide the kind of supports and activities our young people deserve. It’s been great to be part of the project. I can’t wait to see where our young people take it from here.”
