Meet Rita Saffioti

Hon Rita Saffioti MLA
Minister for Transport; Planning; Ports
Member for West Swan

Rita was elected to State Parliament in 2008, and joined Mark McGowan's Shadow Cabinet team in 2013.

Following the Labor election victory in March 2017, she was appointed the Minister for Transport; Planning and at the recent Labor election victory in March 2021, Ports was added to Rita's portfolio, giving her the opportunity to deliver a more integrated approach to transport, planning and ports, and responsibility for delivering important commitments including the METRONET project and planning for the future Outer Harbour.

Four years into the job, there are now a range of major road and rail projects across the state that are either underway or completed including the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Rail Line.

Rita’s priority is to see the State of Western Australia thrive through planning reform and the delivery of METRONET, a first class transport network.

Rita has three young children, they keep her busy but also focused on making sure we continue to make Western Australia a better place to live.

When not at Parliament, Rita can usually be found with her family at the footy cheering on her team, the Fremantle Dockers.

Rita is delivering on a number of commitments both State and electorate wide. You can keep up to date by following @RitaSaffiotiMLA on Facebook.
