Deputy Premier; Treasurer; Minister for Transport; Tourism

Rita was elected to State Parliament in 2008, and joined Mark McGowan's Shadow Cabinet team in 2013.
Following the Labor election victory in March 2017, she was appointed the Minister for Transport; Planning and at the recent Labor election victory in March 2021, Ports was added to Rita's portfolio, giving her the opportunity to deliver a more integrated approach to transport, planning and ports, and responsibility for delivering important commitments including the METRONET project and planning for the future Outer Harbour.
In 2023, Rita was appointed Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Tourism whilst maintaining the Transport portfolio.
As the new Treasurer, her number one focus will be maintaining the strong management of the State’s economy and finances, so that Western Australia can be set up to be a strong economy now and in the future.
Continuing in her role as the Transport Minister, she is delivering METRONET and making transport more affordable across WA.
And as the new Tourism Minister, Rita is looking forward to supporting WA's growing and dynamic tourism industry and the many small businesses involved.
Rita has three young children, they keep her busy but also focused on making sure we continue to make Western Australia a better place to live.
When not at Parliament, Rita can usually be found with her family at the footy cheering on her team, the Fremantle Dockers.
